Contest Rules, Terms and Conditions


  1. The “In Your Own Write” contest (the “Contest”) is being conducted by North American Soccer League, LLC (“NASL”) and is open only to legal residents of the United States and Canada age 18 years or older at the time of entry. 
  2. No purchase necessary for entry.  Entry submissions must be written essays between 500 and 1000 words and must be submitted in English (each, an “Entry” or the “Work”). Only Entries made via (the “Official Entry Form”) will be considered.
  3. NASL will make a selection each week of a Work for publication.  NASL shall make such selection at NASL’s sole discretion.  Entries must be received by NASL by 5:00 PM Eastern time on Friday of each week in order to be eligible for selection for publication on the following Tuesday.  In the event that an Entry is not selected for publication one week, NASL may select it for publication for a subsequent week.  Winners will be notified in advance of publication using the email address supplied on the Official Entry Form.
  4. NASL reserves the right to edit any and all Work prior to publication.
  5. Upon selection for publication, NASL shall credit the entrant for the Work and each entrant hereby permits NASL to publicize entrant’s name in the event the entrant’s Work is selected for publication.
  6. Each entrant certifies to NASL that the Work does not contain any plagiarized or copyrighted materials and that the Work is entirely the creation of the entrant.
  7. Each entrant hereby grants NASL the perpetual, irrevocable right to publish, in whole or in part, the Work on, via social media and via any other media channel that NASL desires.
  8. Each month, April through November, NASL will ask fans to vote via social media over which of the published Works for that month was the fans favorite.  The selection that receives the most votes will win an official NASL match ball.  The total value of any prizes awarded the Contest does not exceed $100.  NASL reserves the right to make any and all final determinations with respect to any such votes and the awarding of prizes.
  9. The prize(s) must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternative. Once prizes have been allocated and dispatched they cannot be transferred.
  10. NASL does not accept any responsibility for late or lost Entries. NASL shall not be held responsible for any inability to submit entries as a result of computer service, systems and or server failure, error, interruption, defect or delay or any other technical malfunction. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
  11. Entrants must supply full details as required above, and comply with all rules to be eligible for prize(s). No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently. Deeming an entry void is at NASL’s absolute discretion.
  12. The Contest is not open to employees or contractors of NASL, any person directly or indirectly involved with NASL or the running of the Contest, or their direct family members.
  13. NASL’s decision is final and binding in every situation including any not covered in these rules and no correspondence will be entered into.
  14. NASL reserves the right to cancel or change the Contest at any stage, if deemed necessary in NASL’s opinion.
  15. Void where prohibited.
