TEAM OF THE WEEK | Fall Season Week 3

Pinho, Fortune, and Ledesma headline the latest NASL Team of the Week

Week 3 of the Fall Season saw a return to form for Miami FC, led by forward Stéfano Pinho. New York Cosmos midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma and North Carolina FC midfielder Dre Fortune also provided key performances for their clubs.

GK: Daniel Vega (Miami FC) – The Miami goalkeeper made seven saves in the club’s 3-1 win, making several stops on point-blank range shots from Indy Eleven.

DEF: Hunter Freeman (Miami FC) – The fullback served as a dangerous threat going forward, first being involved in Miami’s opening goal and then providing the assist on the third. He created three chances in the game.

DEF: Darrius Barnes (New York Cosmos) – The center back won seven of eight duels and made three clearances and three interceptions to help the Cosmos earn a point on the road.

DEF: Patrick Hopkins (San Francisco Deltas) – The defender helped San Francisco keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Puerto Rico. He won four duels and all three of his tackles, as well as making four clearances and three interceptions.

DEF: Seth Moses (Puerto Rico FC) – He won nine duels and all four of his tackles. The fullback also made four clearances in the draw for Puerto Rico.

MID: Dylan Mares (Miami FC) – The midfielder was lively throughout Miami’s win and scored the club’s second goal. He also created three chances and completed 43 of his 46 passes.

MID: Emmanuel Ledesma (New York Cosmos) – He scored the game-tying goal with an excellent strike in the club’s 1-1 draw with FC Edmonton. He also won six duels in the contest.

MID: Dre Fortune (North Carolina FC) – The young midfielder scored late in the first half and then his shot led to the rebound for North Carolina’s equalizer in a 2-2 draw with Jacksonville Armada FC.

FWD: Stéfano Pinho (Miami FC) – The forward netted two goals from headers and became the league’s leading scorer in the process. He also earned Player of the Week honors.

FWD: Tomi Ameobi (FC Edmonton) – He provided a difficult test for the Cosmos’ back line. The forward created four chances and picked up an assist in the draw.

FWD: Tony Taylor (Jacksonville Armada FC) – He scored the game’s opening goal for Jacksonville and then drew a penalty later in the first half.
