The NASL Fall Season is now underway after an exciting start last weekend. Youngster Eric Calvillo shined for the New York Cosmos, while Indy Eleven remained hot, riding an Eamon Zayed goal to victory.
Here's the list of all the top performers from Week 1 of the Fall Season:
GK: Caleb Patterson-Sewell (Jacksonville Armada FC) – The veteran shot-stopper made seven saves in a 1-1 draw with the San Francisco Deltas.
DEF: Lovel Palmer (Indy Eleven) – He made 14 clearances and won four duels as Indy Eleven defeated FC Edmonton, 2-1.
DEF: Mechack Jérôme (Jacksonville Armada FC) – The center back made nine clearances and won four duels as his side earned a point.
DEF: Steven Miller (North Carolina FC) – He won six duels as well as all three of his tackle attempts in North Carolina’s 1-1 draw with Puerto Rico FC.
MID: Eric Calvillo (New York Cosmos) – The U.S. youth international scored a pair of goals as the Cosmos defeated Spring Season Champions Miami FC, 3-1. He was also named NASL Player of the Week.
MID: Kobi Moyal (New York Cosmos) – Making his league debut, the Israeli international had an assist and then put the exclamation point on the win with his first league goal.
MID: Ben Fisk (FC Edmonton) – The Canadian international was lively for FC Edmonton and created three chances as well as picking up the assist on the Eddies’ lone goal of the game. FC Edmonton, though, fell to Indy Eleven.
MID: Yuma (Puerto Rico FC) – He had an assist in Puerto Rico’s draw with North Carolina and supplied a strong overall performance. He completed 43 of 47 passes and made three clearances in the game.
MID: Don Smart (Indy Eleven) – The midfielder provided an attacking threat throughout Indy’s victory and was heavily involved in the build-up play to the first goal. His shot eventually rebounded to David Goldsmith for the opening goal of the game.
FWD: Eamon Zayed (Indy Eleven) – The veteran forward scored the eventual game-winner for the Boys in Blue.
FWD: Danny Cruz (San Francisco Deltas) – He provided a cool finish to earn the Deltas a point on the road against Jacksonville.
