FC Edmonton are delighted to announce that the club’s all-time leading scorer Daryl Fordyce is returning to the club ahead of the 2017 NASL Fall Season. As per club policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

The Belfast, Northern Ireland, product arrives at FC Edmonton for a second stint after signing from Northern Irish club Linfield FC alongside longtime teammate and countrymen Albert Watson in 2013. Over four seasons with the Eddies, Fordyce’s impact on the pitch translated into 109 appearances and a club record of 32 goals in all competitions.

“Edmonton holds a special place in my heart and it’s a city I call home,” Fordyce said of his return to Alberta’s capital. “Everyone involved with FC Edmonton knows me and how I play, and I’m going to give the club 150 percent like I always did in the past.

“I’m very, very excited to be back with the Eddies and I’m itching to get back on the pitch.”

One of head coach Colin Miller’s first signings for the club, Fordyce moved to FC Cincinnati of the United Soccer League (USL) in January where he made nine appearances for the club.

“It’s a fantastic return for Daryl and the club,” Miller said of the addition. “Both him and [Albert Watson] were two of my first signings and you don't need to introduce Daryl to the quality of the league, its standard, or the travel required because he already has four years of experience in the NASL.

"It’s a no-brainer for the club to bring Daryl back as he’s a proven leader, well thought of by fans, and the club’s all-time top scorer."

A return to Edmonton for Daryl and his wife Tina became more fitting after the two secured their permanent residency status in Canada on June 25. As such, Fordyce will not make up one of the club’s seven international roster spots.

“When Colin gave me the phone call I said ‘Let’s make it work,’ and thankfully [FC Edmonton co-owner] Tom Fath, Colin, and my agent made it work quickly,” Fordyce said. "Thank you to everyone at [FC Cincinnati] and head coach Alan Koch and general manager Jeff Berding for their understanding and help with the transition."
