TEAM OF THE WEEK | Spring Season Week 12

San Francisco's Kyle Bekker, Jacksonville Armada FC's J.C. Banks, and FC Edmonton's Nathan Ingham highlight latest Team of the Week

On the road, Jacksonville Armada FC and the San Francisco Deltas both had big performances led by midfielders. J.C. Banks and Kyle Bekker both scored two goals in their team's victory. Also in Week 12, young goalkeeper Nathan Ingham provided two strong performances for FC Edmonton.

GK: Nathan Ingham (FC Edmonton) – Making his first appearances in the NASL, the young shot-stopper made a total of eight saves, including stopping one penalty kick. He helped the Eddies defeat the New York Cosmos, 4-2, last Wednesday before having another strong performance, despite a 1-0 loss to Miami FC.

DEF: Kenny Teijsse (San Francisco Deltas) – The fullback opened the scoring in San Francisco’s 3-1 win against Puerto Rico FC. Defensively, he made seven clearances and three interceptions as well as winning seven duels in the contest.

DEF: Rhett Bernstein (Miami FC) – The center back made 16 clearances in Miami’s shutout win over Edmonton. He also won seven of his eight duels and completed 53 of 58 passes.  

DEF: Abdoulaye Diakité (FC Edmonton) – He helped the Eddies defeat the Cosmos, including making a goal-line clearance at MCU Park. In the club’s second game of the week, he won all five of his tackles, won all seven of his duels, and made eight clearances as well as making five interceptions, although it came in a loss to Miami.  

DEF: Blake Smith (Miami FC) – The fullback made six clearances and also won six duels. He also had a near perfect passing game, completing 46 of his 47 attempts in Miami’s victory.

MID: Kyle Bekker (San Francisco Deltas) – The Canadian international scored a pair of top-class goals as the Deltas maintained an unbeaten record on the road. His efforts netted him Play of the Week honors.

MID: J.C. Banks (Jacksonville Armada FC) – He scored a pair of goals in Jacksonville’s 4-1 win over Indy Eleven. The midfielder also won his three tackles and seven duels.

MID: Ayoze (New York Cosmos) – He created two chances and scored in the Cosmos’ loss to Edmonton. The veteran followed that up with an assist, creating four chances, in the club’s 2-2 draw with North Carolina FC on Saturday.  

FWD: Irvin Herrera (New York Cosmos) – The Salvadoran international scored in back-to-back games, his first goals for the club, in Week 12. Both tallies opened the scoring in the contests, but the Cosmos were unable to get victories in those games.

FWD: Billy Schuler (North Carolina FC) – The forward scored a stunning goal, unleashing a volley from distance that flew into the top corner in the draw with New York.

FWD: Tomi Ameobi (FC Edmonton) – He scored a pair of goals in the Eddies’ victory road against the Cosmos.
