TEAM OF THE WEEK | Spring Season Week 10

Jacksonville's Zach Steinberger, Puerto Rico's Austin Pack, and San Francisco's Jackson shined in Week 10

Jacksonville Armada FC moved closer to league-leading Miami FC and midfielder Zach Steinberger had a big part to play in that. He excelled once more, leading the club past North Carolina FC. Miami FC's win streak ended after finding it difficult to beat Puerto Rico FC goalkeeper Austin Pack, despite creating plenty of goalscoring chances. Defender Jackson helped the San Francisco Deltas maintain an unbeaten road record with a strong performance on the back line against the New York Cosmos.

The full Team of the Week for Week 10 is below: 

GK: Austin Pack (Puerto Rico FC) – The young shot-stopper helped earn a point against league-leading Miami FC with a key performance. He made six saves in the 1-1 draw on the road.

DEF: Jackson (San Francisco Deltas) – He helped stymie the New York Cosmos attack, winning all five of his tackles and eight duels. He also made three clearances in the club’s 0-0 draw. 

DEF: Carlos Mendes (New York Cosmos) – The club’s captain had a strong performance in the draw with San Francisco, winning five duels and making two clearances, as the club kept a clean sheet.

DEF: Drew Beckie (Jacksonville Armada FC) – He helped Jacksonville earn all three points in the 2-1 win over North Carolina FC. He won three duels and also made three clearances and three interceptions. Beckie also had the assist on the eventual game-winner, creating two chances and completing 36 of his 41 passes.

DEF: Hunter Freeman (Miami FC) – The veteran defender made eight clearances and won three duels as Miami picked up a point in the 1-1 draw with Puerto Rico FC.

MID: Dustin Corea (FC Edmonton) – The Salvadoran international scored from the penalty spot and then turned provider with a well-placed free kick for Adam Straith to head home. Corea created three chances overall in the game.

MID: Zach Steinberger (Jacksonville Armada FC) – He scored twice in the first half to lead Jacksonville to a 2-1 victory. His efforts also netted him Player of the Week honors.

MID: Cristian Portilla (San Francisco Deltas) – The veteran battled in the heart of the midfield, winning seven duels and a pair of tackles as well as making a pair of clearances and three interceptions in the scoreless affair with New York.

MID: Jordi Quintillà (Puerto Rico FC) – The Barcelona Academy product picked up an assist, sending in a free kick that Ramón Soria finished off. He created two chances and also won five duels and made three interceptions.

MID: Adam Straith (FC Edmonton) – The Canadian international scored his first goal as an FC Edmonton player, heading in from Dustin Corea’s free kick. The goal stood up as the eventual winner in the 2-1 victory over Indy Eleven.

FWD: Vincenzo Rennella (Miami FC) – The Miami forward scored in his fourth straight league game, causing problems for the Puerto Rico defense throughout the contest. He also created two chances in the game.
