The NASL Preseason Tour is headed back to New York to meet with the defending champion New York Cosmos, but, before that, it was an eventful day with North Carolina FC.
Meet And Greet
The morning started with coffee, bagels, and two teams meeting for the first time. Players from North Carolina FC and NC Courage of the NWSL got the chance to mingle ahead of Tuesday’s training session. Owner Steve Malik addresses both sides as the club’s draw closer to the upcoming seasons.
Local Tour
Need to find a place in Cary or downtown Raleigh? North Carolina FC captain Nazmi Albadawi is the guy. He took the NASL digital team around, showcasing spots that overlooked the downtown Raleigh area, but also places of significance to him. The tour around included a short-sided turf field where Nazmi played 4-v-4 and also a stop at NC State, where Nazmi walked on before ultimately wearing the captain’s armband, like he does for North Carolina FC, during his time in college.

Watching The ‘Canes
With the Carolina Hurricanes playing the New York Islanders, Nazmi went to PNC Arena to cheer on the hometown team. The game was an exciting three periods with both teams playing evenly. In the end, the Islanders came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in overtime. Despite the loss, it was certainly a great evening, with a picture of Nazmi even getting on the jumbotron.
