Puerto Rico FC announced today the signing of Honduran international Jairo Puerto, who brings CONCACAF Champions League experience and multiple caps with the Honduras national team.
“We look forward to welcoming Jairo to the island," Puerto Rico FC coach Adrian Whitbread said. "He brings experience, quality, energy, passion, and a will to win to our club. It will be incumbent on us as a coaching staff, as well as the rest of the players, to help him settle in quickly so he can be ready for the Caribbean Club Championship where his experience will be a welcome addition."
Puerto, 28, was an important part of the Honduran men’s national team that won the Copa Centro America this past January. He appeared in the victories against Panama and El Salvador as well as the crucial draw with Costa Rica. His career has spanned over 130 matches for prestigious clubs such as CD Marathón and Olimpia, for which he excelled as a winger. His pace and aggression brings another exciting attacking option to the club's roster.
