FC Edmonton snapped a two-game losing streak as it continued to prepare for its first postseason appearance since 2011 with a 1-0 victory against Jacksonville Armada FC at Clarke Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

FC Edmonton (10W-6D-5L, 36 points Fall; 15-8-8, 53 Combined) goalkeeper Matt VanOekel, back in the net after being rested for two straight contests, notched his 16th shutout of the year as Jacksonville (4-8-9, 20 Fall; 5-12-14, 27 Combined) exerted little pressure on the Eddies’ goal.

The gamed seemed headed for a scoreless draw until the Eddies earned a penalty kick, buried by Daryl Fordyce, in second-half stoppage time.

After next Friday’s regular-season finale at Miami FC, the Eddies will play at Indy Eleven in a semifinal match in The Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5.
