Miami FC looked poised to gain ground in the postseason race last Friday, but the club let a two-goal lead slip at home in the 2-2 draw with the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Jaime Chavez, who scored a stunning goal and added an assist in the contest, may provide the spark for Miami (8W-6D-5L, 30 points Fall; 9-10-10, 37 Combined) through the club’s final stretch, starting with a road test at Jacksonville Armada FC. A win would move Miami back within a point of fourth place in the Combined Standings and the final spot in The Championship, the league’s four-team postseason tournament. Miami has been one of the best road teams in the Fall Season, but the side did fall to Jacksonville, 2-1, in the Spring Season at Community First Park.

The Armada FC (3-8-8, 17 Fall; 4-12-13, 24 Combined) enters the midweek contest after a tough 4-2 loss to the New York Cosmos that snapped the club’s five-game unbeaten streak. Jacksonville, which has shown fight and confidence under head coach Mark Lowry, can play the role of spoiler against Miami on Wednesday night. The Armada FC has only lost once in its last seven games, but the six prior contests before last Saturday’s loss were all draws.
