Miami FC bolstered its back line with the acquisition of defender Hunter Freeman from the New York Cosmos.

“We are very happy to have a player of Freeman's caliber join our club,” Technical Director Mauro Pederzoli said. “He has extensive MLS and NASL experience, and will provide a great veteran presence on the pitch and in the locker room.”

Freeman, a native of Tyler, Texas, has been a mainstay in the Cosmos defense this season, starting all 21 games.

Freeman is an MLS veteran, having made 126 appearances for four different teams. He was drafted by the Colorado Rapids in 2005 after a strong career with the University of Virginia. Freeman would go on to play three season with the Rapids and featured for the New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC, and Houston Dynamo.

Freeman had a successful stint in Europe, playing with IK Start of Norway. He played in 51 games for IK Start and scored two goals.

He joined the Cosmos in 2013 for their inaugural season and has been a regular ever since. He helped the Cosmos win titles in 2013 and 2015.

Freeman joins a surging Miami FC squad that currently sits in fifth in the Fall Season Standings and have lost just once in the last eight games.
