The New York Cosmos moved into the top spot of the Fall Season and Combined Standings after a commanding 6-1 win over the Carolina RailHawks last Saturday. The Cosmos now face off against Spring Season Champion Indy Eleven on Wednesday night after Juan Arango and Jairo Arrieta both scored goals in the recent win, which extended New York’s home unbeaten streak to 14 games at Shuart Stadium. The contest against Indy is a crucial one. The Cosmos can further the gap between themselves and the third-place side in the Fall Season, but a loss would pull Indy, New York, and FC Edmonton even on 23 points.

The Eleven, which has had some recent stumbles, played to a 1-1 draw against Ottawa Fury FC last Saturday. Brad Ring scored for Indy to help the side earn a point on the road. Despite only having one win on the road and currently in a stretch of eight games winless away from Carroll Stadium, Indy enters the matchup with New York carrying some confidence. The Boys in Blue defeated the Cosmos, 2-1, in comeback fashion with Eamon Zayed, who has a team-leading 12 goals, scoring twice in the Spring Season win. The Irishman has notably scored in big games throughout the year for Indy and will hope to do the same on Wednesday night.
