The Tampa Bay Rowdies were in action on Wednesday night, but were unable to pick up any points against Minnesota United in a 2-0 loss. That result gave the Rowdies (2W-2D-5L, 8 points) back-to-back losses and a fourth loss in their last five games. While the scoreline didn’t reflect it, Tampa Bay put in a valiant performance on the road and should take positives into the matchup with FC Edmonton on Saturday. The club will have to be on its game to defeat one of the league’s hottest teams, but the Rowdies did earn all three points in a 1-0 win in the Spring Season, which saw Matt Pickens save a penalty kick in the final minutes.

FC Edmonton (6-1-1, 19) carries its streaking form into Saturday’s affair after winning its ninth straight home game last weekend against Minnesota United. Tomi Ameobi has found top form, having scored two game-winning goals in a row, including in the Eddies’ recent 1-0 road win against Puerto Rico FC. The Eddies enter the contest against the Rowdies having the stingiest defense in the NASL, with just 10 goals allowed in 18 games.
