Minnesota United and the Tampa Bay Rowdies enter Wednesday’s contest hoping to shake off a string of tough results in recent weeks. The Loons have lost their last two games and are currently on a four-game winless streak after falling to FC Edmonton, 1-0, on Sunday. Despite the loss, Minnesota (3W-2D-3L, 11 points) can take some positives from the loss in Edmonton, including the play of Ben Speas, who looked dangerous in his first start since June.

The Rowdies enter Wednesday’s action on the heels of a 3-2 loss to the New York Cosmos on Saturday night. They have now lost three of their last four games. Midfielder PC, who was recently acquired from the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, will look to keep his momentum going after tallying a goal and an assist in the loss to New York. Tampa Bay (2-2-4, 8) should carry some confidence with them to Minnesota, though, after knocking off the Loons, 2-0, at NSC Stadium in the Spring Season. English star Joe Cole, who tied the team lead with his fifth goal on Saturday, found the back of the net when the Rowdies won in Minnesota last time.
