Thomas Stewart scored his first goal to give the visitors the lead. Bryan Olivera sprinted through the midfield before playing the ball to an umarked Stewart, who fired past Jacksonville (1W-1D-3L, 4 points) goalkeeper Sean Lewis in the 37th minute.

Carl Haworth added to the advantage for Ottawa (1-0-1, 3) when his low strike from the top of the box found the bottom corner in the 60th minute. It was the forward’s team-leading fourth goal of the year. Olivera added his second assist of the game.
