TEAM OF THE WEEK | Fall Season Week 1

Minnesota's Christian Ramirez, Puerto Rico's Héctor Ramos, and Jacksonville's Sean Lewis highlighted the first Team of the Week in the Fall Season

Week 1 of the Fall Season was highlighted by late equalizers, special goals, and a show-stopping goalkeeper performance. Minnesota United's Christian Ramirez tallied a hat trick, while Héctor Ramos tallied the first goal in Puerto Rico FC history. In goal for Jacksonville, Sean Lewis had a tremendous debut.

Here are top performers that were selected to the first Team of the Week of the Fall Season: 

GK: Sean Lewis (Jacksonville Armada FC) – Making his NASL debut, he tallied 10 saves against the Tampa Bay Rowdies to help the Armada FC earn a 1-1 draw.  

DEF: Darnell King (Tampa Bay Rowdies) – The outside back set up Tampa Bay’s goal against Jacksonville and helped limit the Armada FC’s attacking opportunities, winning eight of his 10 duels.

DEF: Gale Agbossoumonde (Fort Lauderdale Strikers) – The center back scored the Strikers’ equalizer on a rising header, but again was strong in defense. He made six clearances and four interceptions during the 1-1 draw with Miami FC.

DEF: Nemanja Vukovic (Indy Eleven) – Indy Eleven pulled out another late result and once again Nemanja Vukovic was involved, assisting Soulemayne Youla’s late equalizer. He created two chances, while making three clearances and four interceptions on the back line.

MID: Ariel Martinez (Miami FC) – The Cuban international drew the penalty that set up Miami’s goal, while having a busy role in midfield in the draw in the South Florida Derby.

MID: Adam Moffat (New York Cosmos) – He helped set the tempo for New York after scoring from the penalty spot early in the first half. He also won four duels and kept the Cosmos’ midfield ticking in the 2-1 win over Ottawa Fury FC.

MID: Derek Boateng (Rayo OKC) – The Ghanaian international helped marshal the midfield for Rayo OKC in a 1-1 draw. He made four clearances, won three duels, and also made two interceptions to slow down FC Edmonton's attacking play.  

MID: Gustavo (FC Edmonton) – Coming on as a first-half substitute, Gustavo supplied the tying goal on a strike from distance that earned the Eddies a point on the road.

FWD: Christian Ramirez (Minnesota United) – He notched his first career hat trick in a 5-1 victory over the Carolina RailHawks. Continuing to show his all-around game, Ramirez added an assist. He was also named Player of the Week for his performance.

FWD: Héctor Ramos (Puerto Rico FC) – The Puerto Rican international scored the first goal in Puerto Rico FC’s history as the club earned a 1-1 draw against Indy Eleven.

FWD: Lucky Mkosana (New York Cosmos) – He created two chances for his teammates and scored what proved to be the winning goal with an acrobatic flick in the Cosmos’ victory.
