Dario Cvitanich, Former Teammate Luis Suarez Are Men In Form

There are two former teammates having great months in the world of soccer. They are Barcelona’s Luis Suarez and Miami FC’s Dario Cvitanich.

The two goalscorers played with each other at world-renowned Dutch club Ajax from 2008 to 2011. In those three seasons Ajax never finished lower than third in the league table and were champions of the Eredivisie in the 2010-11 season.

“It was an incredible experience,” Cvitanich said. “Ajax is a club other teams use as a model for success. I am very happy I got a chance to play there.”

In his first season with the club, Cvitanich netted nine goals and assisted on two others in just 14 appearances, finishing second in scoring behind only Suarez.

Suarez would move on to Liverpool with Cvitanich being loaned out to Boca Juniors and Pachuca, but he remembers his time with the fellow South American fondly.

“I got to spend a lot of great moments with Luis on and off the field,” Cvitanich said. “The Netherlands is a wonderful country and it was good to experience it with someone that spoke my language.”

After devastating losses to Atletico Madrid and Valencia, Suarez has lifted Barcelona to two massive wins, scoring eight goals and assisting on three others.

“He has always been a difference maker, even back with Ajax” Cvitanich recalls. “I remember he scored 34 or 35 goals in 36 matches, plus all of the assists he made. I knew he would go far because he always put in the work. It make me happy to see that he is doing so well.”

In that same time frame, Cvitanich has been on fire for the Miami FC. He is currently a top scorer in the NASL, with three goals in four games. Cvitanich is already making his mark in the Miami FC history books with the club's first goal in its history and first goal at home.

He will now look to keep matching his former strike partner, with a Golden Boot in mind at the end of his first NASL season.
