U.S. men’s national team legend Tony Meola recorded his first win as a head coach on Friday night, leading Jacksonville Armada FC to a 2-1 triumph over fellow Florida side Miami FC at Community First Park in Jacksonville, Fla. Honduran midfielder Junior Sandoval and Haitian international Pascal Millien found the back of the net for the home side, providing enough offense to top Dario Cvitanich’s lone strike for the visitors.

Cvitanich appeared to open the scoring in the early going, but the Argentine striker was in an offside position while heading home from close range. Moments later, the Armada FC took the lead through Sandoval, who fired an impressive long-distance strike into the top corner. The home side then added to its lead in the 37th minute when Millien fired past a diving Mario Daniel Vega to make it 2-1.

The Armada FC wouldn't relinquish the lead in its home opener, despite a scare when Cvitanich had a second goal called back early in the second half.
