TEAM OF THE WEEK | Spring Season Week 2

Carolina's Austin da Luz and Minnesota's Ben Speas highlight the Team of the Week for Week 2

Carolina’s Austin da Luz and Minnesota’s Ben Speas both found the back of the net twice to lift their sides to victory and provided a few of the key performances from Week 2 of the Spring Season.

The full Team of the Week is below:

GK: Mario Daniel Vega (Miami FC) – The goalkeeper made five important saves to help Miami FC claim its second draw in as many games in a 1-1 affair with the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

DEF: Hunter Freeman (New York Cosmos) – The fullback helped quell Jacksonville Armada FC’s attack in the 2-0 victory, winning three tackles and six duels, while also making an interception and clearance.

DEF: Neill Collins (Tampa Bay Rowdies) – He put in a solid shift on Tampa Bay’s back line, having three clearances and winning six duels in the draw with Miami.

DEF: Kevin Venegas (Minnesota United) – He was involved in both of Minnesota’s goals in its 2-0 road win over FC Edmonton and claimed one assist. He also had five clearances and four interceptions.

DEF: Nemanja Vukovic (Indy Eleven) – He scored the game-tying goal in the 89th minute, while also keeping Ottawa’s attack at bay in the 1-1 draw.

MID: Nazmi Albadawi (Carolina RailHawks) – The young midfielder added two assists in the RailHawks’ come-from-behind victory over Rayo OKC, 3-2. He created five chances overall for his teammates.

MID: Austin da Luz (Carolina RailHawks) – His fast start to the season continued with two more goals and his second consecutive game-winner with a header.

MID: Niko Kranjčar (New York Cosmos) – The Croatian international made his first start with the Cosmos and added an assist. He was also key in keeping the shutout making two tackles, one clearance, and two interceptions, while winning six duels.

FWD: Ben Speas (Minnesota United) – He scored twice, including a flick over an Edmonton defender before firing on net, to lift the Loons to victory.

FWD: Idan Vered (Ottawa Fury FC) – In his first start for his new club, he scored Fury FC’s goal to earn a point on the road.

FWD: Jairo Arrieta (New York Cosmos) – The forward helped create four chances in attacking positions, but more importantly scored the game’s opening goal in the Cosmos’ win.
