Dario Cvitanich made Miami FC history again Saturday night when he scored the expansion franchise’s first goal before an enthusiastic opening day crowd of 10,156 at Ocean Bank Field in Miami in a 1-1 draw with the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Cvitanich, who scored the first goal in club history last week at Fort Lauderdale, brought the crowd to its feet with a goal in the 17th minute from a corner kick. But just as they did late last week against the Strikers, Miami FC yielded a late penalty kick that was converted by Georgi Hristov of Tampa Bay (0W-2D-0L, 2 points). Miami FC (0-2-0, 2) completes an opening series against the NASL’s other Florida team when it plays at Jacksonville next weekend.
