The former Israeli youth international most recently played for Red Star Belgrade
With the 2016 Spring Season opener in New York just over a week away, Ottawa Fury FC added some offensive depth to its squad with the signing of Israeli forward Idan Vered, pending ITC approval. The 27-year-old joins Fury FC after spending last season in the Serbian SuperLiga with Red Star Belgrade.
"He's a dynamic forward, he's quick and he can score goals," Fury FC coach Paul Dalglish said. "We've kind of got away from that target forward style of play and we try to have a system with three dynamic forwards and he's going to be a really good complement to our team."
Vered played his entire career in Israel with Hakoah Amidar Ramt Gan, Beitar Jerusalem, and Maccabi Haifa before making the move to Serbia. The 5-foot-9 forward is a product of Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth academy and spent the majority of his professional career with Maccabi where he featured in 130 games from 2010 to 2015.
