The Carolina RailHawks announced on Thursday that they have signed forward Aly Alberto Hassan ahead of the 2016 season. Hassan, an NASL veteran, has played in the league for five seasons and advanced to The Championship Final twice.
“We are thrilled to have Aly join the team,” RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke said. “Aly will give us a different look in the attack because he is a proven goalscorer and has a great presence up front.”
The 26-year-old forward from Weston, Florida, broke into the NASL in 2012 when he signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. Hassan had an extremely successful rookie season with the Strikers, appearing in 21 matches and scoring six goals, including a hat trick in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Following a brief loan to Bolivian squad Club Aurora, Hassan returned to Fort Lauderdale, where he spent three more seasons. Hassan logged 885 playing minutes and scored three goals for the Strikers, before joining Ottawa Fury FC in 2015.
During his season in Ottawa, Hassan appeared in 12 matches and scored three goals, helping Fury FC earn a berth in The Championship Final. Hassan has also represented the United States at the U-20 level.
