Romuald Peiser was the lynchpin of the NASL's stingiest defense in 2015. With a strong and consistent back line of Mason Trafford, Colin Falvey, Rafael Alves, and Ryan Richter in front of him, the French goalkeeper set a number of NASL Modern Era records en route to winning the league's Golden Glove award.
Starting in 29 of Ottawa's 30 league matches, Peiser conceded just 22 goals for an NASL record-tying mark for goals against average with 0.76. Keeping clean sheets for Peiser and Ottawa, was a regular occurrence in 2015. Peiser claimed a record with 14 shut outs during the campaign.
Ottawa also went on a stretch that included a 648-minute shutout streak – another record – that extended from the end of the Spring Season to early in the Fall. Peiser also recorded 15 wins adding his name to the record books once more.
“Every player is very important," Peiser said. "I think that’s what made the difference for Fury FC. No matter who played, we did well. We had a winning spirit, and you realize playing like that you get results. We had so much fun on the field defending, but also attacking because we scored a lot of goals in the Fall Season.”
The strong defensive record would be the catalyst of a tremendous Fall Season, after finishing in ninth place in the Spring Season. Fury FC went on to claim the club's first piece of silverware with a finish atop the Fall Season Standings and the No.2 seed in The Championship. Ottawa ultimately fell, 3-2, to the New York Cosmos in the league's final.
