The Carolina RailHawks are back in Cary to host the Atlanta Silverbacks at WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

“Despite last game’s result, the team responded well, controlled the game and created scoring opportunities,” RailHawks head coach Colin Clark said. “Atlanta, therefore, becomes an opportunity for us to get back on track and get three important points.”

Friday’s faceoff will be the first matchup of the Fall Season between the RailHawks and the Silverbacks. The teams last met in April in Cary for the RailHawks’ only home loss of the Spring Season with the match finishing 2-1.

The RailHawks currently sit only five points off of a postseason berth with half of the Fall Season yet to be played.

The Silverbacks are currently in sixth place in the Combined Standings with 26 points and are in fourth place in the Fall Season standings with 18.

The RailHawks are coming off a tough 3-2 loss against the New York Cosmos. In the second minute of the game the Cosmos struck first with a goal, but the RailHawks continued pressuring, and Nazmi Albadawi capitalized twice with goals in the 24th and 42nd minutes. The Cosmos tied the game, 2-2, in the 61st minute with a penalty kick and then scored again in the 85th minute.

The Silverbacks are coming off a 1-0 win against FC Edmonton at Atlanta Silverbacks Park to remain undefeated at home in the Fall Season. The match was a back-and-forth affair until the Silverbacks finally broke through with a goal in the 81st minute.
