Minnesota's High-Flying Attack Hosts Indy On NASL Wednesday Night Soccer On ONE World Sports

The Loons have scored at least one goal in 17 straight matches entering Wednesday's contest

Minnesota United and its high-flying attack hosts Indy Eleven on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET at NSC Stadium in Blaine, Minn.

The Loons have scored in 17 straight league matches, led by Christian Ramirez’s eight goals. The reigning Golden Boot winner has scored in seven of Minnesota’s last eight games. The attacking form currently has United in third place in the Combined Standings, but certainly not sitting comfortably in the race for The Championship, the NASL’s four-team postseason tournament.

Indy’s Dane Richards has gone on a scoring streak of his own, finding the back of the net in three consecutive games. The Jamaican forward will need to test a back line that is prone to conceding goals, especially late in matches.

The Boys in Blue are coming off a tough weekend, but the best tonic could be getting right back on the field. Indy fell to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, 7-1, amid an onslaught from the Strikers’ Brazilian trio – Stefano Pinho, PC, and Marlon Freitas. Indy had been building momentum after snapping a five-game winless streak with a win followed by a draw before its defeat at Lockhart Stadium.

Minnesota should be well rested heading into Wednesday night’s match after having an last weekend off. The club’s last match was on Aug. 22, when the Loons defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdies, 3-1, on the strength of goals from Ibson, Justin Davis, and Daniel Mendes.

Three points for either side would be crucial. Minnesota can further entrench itself into its bid for The Championship, while a win would provide a confidence boost for Indy. With the Combined Standings so close, every point counts as every team is still in the running for the postseason.
