PREVIEW | Eddies Look To Bounce Back On The Road Against The Silverbacks

After a tough loss in Edmonton, the Eddies head on the road to Atlanta aiming for all three points

FC Edmonton will put its unbeaten road record in the Fall Season on the line as they head to Atlanta on August 29 to take on the Atlanta Silverbacks at Atlanta Silverbacks Park at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Edmonton will be eyeing a return to form after a 2-0 loss to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers this past weekend at Clarke Field, that saw them uncharacteristically fighting to generate attacking opportunities through a majority of the match. A disappointing performance was highlighted by the play of backup goalkeeper Tyson Farago, who filled in late for an injured Matt VanOekel and looked comfortable between the woodwork despite playing in just his second ever professional match, and first of the 2015 season.

The Silverbacks will be looking for their first victory in four matches when they suit up against the Eddies, having last found success against Strikers in a 2-1 decision on August 5. Since then, the team has settled for a pair of draws against the San Antonio Scorpions and Indy Eleven as well as a 1-0 defeat versus Jacksonville Armada FC. Striker Jaime Chavez will be one to watch on the home side, having collected five goals and five assists through 18 appearances this season.

The two sides have split their 2015 season series thus far with a victory apiece heading into this weekend. The two teams first met May 24 at Clarke Field, where the Eddies put forth a convincing 4-2 performance off of goals from Lance Laing, Ritchie Jones, Daryl Fordyce, and Kareem Moses. The two teams met again on July 26, where the Silverbacks were able to steal all three points from Clarke in a 3-1 win.

“We’re looking for a reaction of some sort after the disappointment of losing to a good Fort Lauderdale team at home,” FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller stated. “We’ve played well away from Clarke this season, and I’ll be looking for a positive performance this weekend.”
