The Fort Lauderdale Strikers travel to the Great White North with momentum on its side following last Saturday’s 2-1 home victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The Strikers’ goals came from Stefano Pinho and James Marcelin after each returned to game action following a one-game suspensions.

The Strikers opened up the scoring in the fourth minute when Stefano buried a left-footed shot in the top corner for his seventh goal of the season. The goal was voted by fans as NASL Play of the Week and keeps him in a tie for third in the league in scoring.

James Marcelin, playing center back for the first time in a year instead of his familiar defensive midfield role, notched his first ever goal for the Strikers just before the half to cancel out Maicon Santos’ equalizer. Both Marcelin and Stefano were named to the NASL Team of the Week.

The win was head coach Günter Kronsteiner’s first at Lockhart in his second stint as head coach following three draws in the Austrian tactician’s first three home matches. The Strikers are now 2W-4D-2L in the 2015 NASL Fall Season.

FC Edmonton is coming off a 3-0 home win over the Carolina RailHawks. The victory catapulted the Eddies to second place in the NASL Fall Season Standings and fifth in the Combined Standings.

The Eddies are led by Lance Lance, the former Strikers’ defender-turned-winger, who has a team-high seven goals and six assists on the year. Laing, along with Kareem Moses and Dustin Corea, made the recent edition of the Team of the Week.

On the road, the Strikers have played the Eddies to a 3-3-3 record, including a 3-2 loss to Edmonton on April 19.  Most recently, the two sides played to a 1-1 draw at Lockhart Stadium on July 11. The Strikers haven’t lost a season series against the Eddies in the NASL Modern Era.
