FC Edmonton announced the signing of attacking midfielder Dustin Corea, July 30, pending ITC clearance.

Corea, 23, was a recent participant in this year’s edition of the prestigious Gold Cup tournament as a member of El Salvador’s national team, registering a goal versus Costa Rica in a 1-1 draw. The left-footed product of Los Angeles, Calif. made 20 appearances for C.D. FAS of the Salvadoran Primera División through 2014-15, posting five goals in 1648 minutes of playing time.

The 5-foot-10 midfielder will participate in his first FC Edmonton training session Thursday at Clarke Field, and will join the team on their upcoming trip to Fort McMurray this weekend.

“It’s taken a bit of time to get this signing of Dustin all done and dusted,” FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller said. “Obviously we wanted to wait tlil he was finished with the Gold Cup. He comes very highly regarded, and he played well during the time he was selected during the Gold Cup tournament. It shows you the status of how our club has grown that it can attract players such as Dustin’s caliber. He will add more depth and add more competition for places, and that’s what we’re all about here at FC Edmonton.”
