Fort Lauderdale Strikers bolstered their attack today with the signing of Brazilian forward Bruno Nunes. Bruno joins the club midway through the NASL Spring Season.

Bruno, 24, will wear his first name on his jersey and will be the first Strikers player to sport the number 90 on his back.

“Bruno is an exciting goalscorer, who is skillful on the ball and a clinical finisher in front of the net,” Strikers Soccer Director and Partner Andre Chaves said. “As he settles into a new country and team, we expect he will strengthen the attacking side of our game and provide coach Neveleff with more options up top.”

Following a career in the top two divisions of Brazil, the 6-foot-1 forward joins the Strikers from Mirassol Futebol Clube.

“I am very happy to sign with the Strikers,” Bruno said through a translator. “It is a great opportunity for me to be able to show my skills and do my best to help the team achieve its goals. I want us to make it to the championship and score lots of goals.”

Bruno started his career in 2010 with second-division side Rio Preto Esporte Clube, playing 298 minutes in the Paulista A2, the state championship for São Paulo. The following year, Bruno scored a career-high 15 league goals in his first full season with Rio Preto.

After Rio Preto, Bruno went on to play for five other clubs including Ponte Preta, Mogi Mirim, and Oeste. The Strikers are his first team outside of Brazil.

In 2014, Bruno won the Copa Fares Lopes with Icasa, which helped his team secure a spot in the Copa do Brasil.
