The North American Soccer League (NASL) introduced its Official Cap Partner on Wednesday, announcing a licensing agreement with global lifestyle brand New Era Cap.

“Working with New Era represents more than just a quality cap deal for our fans – it’s the NASL’s first major licensing agreement,” NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson said. “It shows that more and more companies are seeing the value in partnering with us, and this is just the beginning of our league building out its commercial capabilities.”

New Era, best known for being the official on-field cap for Major League Baseball (MLB) and the National Football League (NFL), will offer official caps for nine NASL clubs: Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina RailHawks, FC Edmonton, Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Indy Eleven, Jacksonville Armada FC, New York Cosmos, Ottawa Fury FC, and the San Antonio Scorpions.

“New Era is a recognized leader in headwear, and their creative designs are unmatched,” Peterson said. “We think our fans will find their products to be very cool.”

Founded in 1920, New Era maintains licensing agreements with several other professional sports entities, including the National Hockey League (NHL) and National Basketball Association (NBA). The NASL will join its long list of sports partners as the only North America-based professional soccer league.

“We are very excited to form a partnership with the NASL. The culture of New Era blends nicely with the game of soccer, where style is celebrated and function is rewarded,” New Era Football/CORE Sports Category Director Stuart Domanowski said. “The future for the game in the U.S. is bright, and our partnership helps to strengthen the growth of the game. We are thrilled to be the Official Cap throughout the season and for The Championship.”

The official team caps can be ordered on NASLShop.com and NewEraCap.com (in the fall of 2015).
