The Fort Lauderdale Strikers announced Tuesday the appointment of Andre Chaves as soccer director and Amaury Nunes as general manager.
"This is a big step forward for us toward our goal of winning the 2015 NASL Championship," managing partner Ricardo Geromel said. "Andre and Amaury have first-hand playing experience as well as exceptional knowledge of what it takes to put together a Championship-winning roster."
Chaves, from Rio de Janeiro, holds masters degrees in Sports Marketing, Political Marketing, and Public Administration. His career has focused on business administration, with significant experience as partner and commercial director at the publicity agency Apto Comunicação LTDA, which sponsors MMA, triathlon, and boxing athletes. He also worked in the business side of the agricultural industry at Fazenda Primavera in São Paulo.
Nunes, also from Rio de Janeiro, moved to the United States when he was 20 years old on a full scholarship. He played four years of collegiate soccer, first at Oklahoma Baptist University and later at Fresno Pacific University, before going on to play professionally in Brazil and in the United States. Nunes holds an international business degree and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
"Chaves and Nunes will be given the resources to build a roster capable of winning the NASL Championship," Geromel said. "The pair have been scouting and negotiating with potential Strikers players and our new head coach. We will make those announcements later this week."
