The Atlanta Silverbacks return home to welcome expansion club Ottawa Fury FC in their second-ever meeting at Atlanta Silverbacks Park.  Both sides are looking to stay in the race for The Championship, as the Silverbacks, who are six points from the final qualifying berth, are coming off 3-2 loss against the host New York Cosmos last week.  Meanwhile, the Fury won its second consecutive road game as it defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdies, 2-0 last weekend.  The only other meeting between the two clubs was this past Spring when goals from forwards Jaime Chavez and Deon McCaulay led Atlanta to a 2-1 victory over visiting Ottawa on May 3.

Coaches quotes:

“Some boys that have been playing while they were away have done a good job, so we'll see how it plays out. But those guys are coming out of a great playing opportunity where they got some valuable minutes in high-tempo matches with big crowds and we're going to hopefully try to use that excitement to our advantage.” – Silverbacks coach Jason Smith

“Our guys have been working extremely hard to catch up on the points we lost earlier this season. The most important is for us to keep pushing and believe we can achieve important things. Atlanta will be another difficult challenge in our way and we must face this with dedication and ambition.” – Fury FC coach Marc Dos Santos

Goals from forwards Oliver, Carl Haworth and midfielder Pierre-Rudolph Mayard led Ottawa Fury FC to a 3-0 victory over the host Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday evening at Silverbacks Park.

The game started quickly with Mayard scoring for Ottawa in just the third minute after an excellent passing play finished by a tap to put the ball in the back of the net.

After dominating posession throughout the first half Ottawa advanced their lead in the 38th minute with a finish by Brazilian Oliver.

The teams came out in the second half with atlanta looking to come back strong. Both teams had their chances but in the 83rd minute Haworth sealed the deal for Ottawa by scoring a header off of an Oliver cross to make it 3-0. This win leaves Ottawa still in the race for The Championship.

"It's important to keep our dream alive and our dream is to make the playoffs," said Fury coach, Marc Dos Santos. "It's an ambitious one.  It's one that seems a little bit impossible, but we're fighting a game at a time. We have a team with a lot of character and passion and I think our dream is possible."
