Match Preview: Tampa Bay Rowdies vs. Minnesota United FC

League-leader Minnesota United FC looks to secure the 2014 Spring Title as it visits Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium in Match of the Week live on ESPN3.  United can book the first berth into ‘The Championship’ with a victory or tie against the Rowdies.  Minnesota can also claim the Spring Crown with a loss against Tampa Bay, but only if New York Cosmos lose or draw (against Ottawa Fury FC) and San Antonio Scorpions loses, draws, or do not win by more than six goals (against Fort Lauderdale Strikers).  United is coming off a 2-1 triumph on the road last week against Atlanta Silverbacks, while the Rowdies lost 2-0 to host Carolina RailHawks.   Rowdies currently lead the head-to-head series, however, Minnesota is unbeaten against Tampa Bay in its last three encounters.  Both teams previously met on November 2, 2013 with United posting a 6-4 win at Al Lang Stadium.

Coaches quotes:
“Any game against Minnesota is generally a close affair. It's been that way since I've been at the club and I don't expect Saturday to be any different. Credit to Manny Lagos and his staff for the consistency they've showed so far this year. We need to play with that consistency. Saturday will give us an opportunity to finish the Spring on a high. Our aim is to get the three points, but we know they have a lot to play for. It'll be like a Cup Final for us.” – Rowdies coach Ricky Hill

“I think it's exciting and we have really worked hard to get to this point.  I'm really proud of how we have put ourselves in a position to win the Spring Season. There is still a lot of work to be done and Tampa Bay is a good team and better than their record reflects. It's going to be a great challenge for us to go in there and get a result, but we are looking forward to it.” – United coach Manny Lagos
