2013: The Fort Lauderdale Strikers announced the first signing of the offseason when David Foley joined on January 14, 2013.

 

Foley made his debut with the Strikers in the season opener against FC Edmonton on April 6, and scored the equalizing goal in the 1-1 draw with an effort from outside the box.

 

Professional: During the 2012 NASL season, Foley was a key part of the Islanders’ attack with six goals and three assists total. Foley showed a highly effective and balanced game in 2011 when he recorded seven goals and six assists on the season. The marks were good for 8th and 4th in the entire NASL, respectively, and his performance led to him being named to the NASL’s Best XI Team.

 

Foley made his debut for the Puerto Rico Islanders in the 2010 season in grand style when he scored his first goal in the 12th minute of the season against the Minnesota Stars on April 21, 2010 at Estadio Juan Ramon Loubriel. Foley would go on to tie for the team lead in goals with nine, while picking up one assist as well. His first game against the Strikers came at home on June 2, when he scored a goal from the penalty spot. In three seasons with the Puerto Rico Islanders, Foley has recorded 22 goals and 10 assists.

 

In 2009, Foley scored the winning goal in Hartlepool United’s historic 2-0 win over Stoke City of the English Premier League in the 2009 FA Cup. In 2007, he helped Hartlepool United win promotion to League One, the third-highest division in English soccer. 

 

Youth: Foley played in Hartlepool United's youth academy where he became Hartlepool's youngest player ever as a substitute against Port Vale at the age of 16. Foley also played a key role in Hartlepool's U-19 Dallas Cup winning team in 2004.
