2013: The Strikers announced the signing of Shavar Thomas for the Spring season on March 11, 2013.
The Jamaica international made his debut in the opening match of the season, a 1-1 draw with FC Edmonton on April 6, partnering Toni Ståhl in the center of defense.
Professional: From 2003 to 2012, Thomas spent 10 seasons in the MLS, playing a total of 185 games, starting 171. The central defender has three goals and an assist to his credit in his 15,059 played on the field. In his ten seasons he has played for the Dallas Burn which drafted him first (10th overall) in 2003, Sporting Kansas City, LA Galaxy, Chivas USA, Philadelphia Union and the Montreal Impact.
Thomas was a member of the Kansas City team which won the 2004 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and represented the Western Conference in the MLS Cup that same year.
International: Shavar Thomas currently has 49 caps for the Jamaican senior national team, and has been capped by his country at the U-20 and U-23 level. He captained the Jamaican team to the 2010 Caribbean Cup Championship in Martinique after winning the same tournament in 2008. He also played in the 2004 Olympics and in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2009 and 2011.
