Annual Huntsville Spring Classic Soccer Tournament,
April 25-27, 2008
As
the spring season comes to a close, the City of Huntsville,
the North Alabama Soccer League, and Huntsville Soccer Club
extend this invitation for your team to participate in the
eighth annual Huntsville Spring Classic Soccer Tournament.
This year’s tournament will be held in Huntsville, Alabama
on April 25-27, 2008. The Alabama Soccer Association (ASA),
an affiliate of the United States Youth Soccer Association
(USYSA) sanctions the tournament. USYSA affiliated teams are
invited to participate.
Our tournament offers brackets for girls and boys teams, ages
ranging from U9 to U14. Where possible, we will have divisions
within each age group based on the competitive level of the
participants. The tournament will accept Division I (Premier),
Division II (Classic), and Division III (Rec-plus) teams.
Each team is guaranteed three matches. Awards will be given
to first and second place teams in each division. What a great
way to finish the spring season by playing against teams from
all over the Southeast and beyond!
If
you have any questions, do not hesitate to call me at 256-206-2329
or send an e-mail message to HSCSambaDad@msn.com.
Please visit our tournament web page at www.hscspringclassic.com
for complete tournament information—including tournament rules,
on-line or printable entry form, and a copy of the ASA approved
application to host a tournament.
Make
sure you signup now and mark the dates on your planner. I
look forward to hearing from you now and seeing you in April.

All Managers
The ASA Board of Directors approved a new procedure for Coaching
Passes effective this Spring season. It relates only to those
coaches with a "D" certification & higher. DOC
passes will no longer be issued.
All
coaches who meet the required criteria of Division I coaching
license (level "D" or higher) will receive a coaches
pass which will allow them to coach any team within their
club without being on the roster. All club registrars will
issue a list of the coaches eligible for this pass to the
state office. There is no need for managers to contact us
for this information. Coaches will be responsible for these
passes as they will need to have it in their possession
to be on the bench of any team within their club. Coaches
who do not meet the requirement for the coaches pass will
use or be issued a standard coaches card for their team
specific.
With this new pass comes a limit to the number of coaches/managers/trainers
that can now be on the sidelines. There shall be no more
than 4 club or team officials (defined as directors of coaching,
coaches bearing the appropriate license level as established
by AYSA, and team managers who appear on the team roster)
may be present in the bench area at any given time during
matches played at the Division I, II, or III level.
This procedure should help everyone.
