North-South Soccer Teams Are Selected (6-1-04)

      Sixty-nine outstanding junior soccer players from all over the state have been named to the North-South teams for the eighth annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week in Montgomery July 12-17, according to an announcement by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association.
      The two girls teams and two boys teams will square off in a Tuesday doubleheader (July 13) beginning with the girls game at 5 p.m. at the YMCA Soccer Complex. The boys’ contest begins at 7 p.m.
      Sports Week, which also includes in-state all-star games in volleyball, baseball, basketball, football and softball, will feature clinic and special sessions for coaches, athletic directors, cheerleader coaches and officials. A product exposition and other related activities are scheduled throughout the week.
      The Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association operates under the auspices of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Membership includes coaches of all AHSAA sports as well as administrators of member schools.

      The coaches for the NORTH GIRLS team are Chris Wilson of Oak Mountain and Brad Carwile of East Limestone.
      Members of the North girls team are Samantha Stevens and Mallory Debter of Fort Payne; Katie McIntyre and Michelle Muldowney of Hoover; Rebecca Bielat of Sparkman; Heather Stowe of East Limestone; Sarah Marek and Stephanie Boyd of Huntsville; Melissa Holmes of Oak Mountain; Morgan Leigh Jackson of Grissom; Arrington Mooney of Briarwood; Elise Denton and Erin Turner of Bob Jones; Paula Radmard of Vestavia Hills; Lauren Vandiver of Thompson; Jana McClung of Homewood; and Beth Anne Barrett of Hazel Green.

      Coaching the SOUTH GIRLS team are Malcolm Colbert of Enterprise and Sally McNider of UMS-Wright.
      On the South girls roster are Amy Van Delune of Houston Academy; Rachel Sherrer and Allison King of Dothan; Melissa Andress of Robertsdale; Sarah Crosby, Diana Buss and Mary Buss of Montgomery Academy; Maude Crepault of St. James; Patricia George of Benjamin Russell; Dillon Rogers of Murphy; Katelynn Gillespie of Daphne; Sara Senkbell of Bayside Academy; Margery Arnold and Sara Carter of Enterprise; Kendra Dupree of B. C. Rain; Whitney Gibson of Baldwin County, Phares Carroll of St. Paul’s; and Bethany Wansley of Fairhope.

       Members of the NORTH BOYS coaching staff are Mike Pettey of Sparkman and Derek Dearman of Oak Mountain. North boys team members are John Halbert and Jonah Stewart of Vestavia Hills; Jay Dalton Huey, Andrew Riley and William Gregory of Oak Mountain; Jared Boyer of Sparkman; David Elmer and Brad Smith of Briarwood; Andre Wright of Butler; Michael Chambers and Tarik Trent of Northridge; Randall Morgan Smith of Homewood; James NyQuist of Cullman; Daniel Segewitz of Grissom; Scott Shelton of Chelsea; David Schumaker of Jacksonville; and Collie Griffith of Fort Payne.

      Selected to coach the SOUTH BOYS are Anthony Childers of Dothan and Walter Milne of Mary Montgomery.

Dates for state playoffs in all divisions are as follows:

  • AHSAA High School Soccer Sections must determine which schools are soccer section winners and runners-up prior to April 22nd, 2004.
  • AHSAA High School Soccer - First Sub-State Round of Playoffs is April 27th, 2004
  • AHSAA High School Soccer - Second Sub-State Round of Playoffs is May 1st, 2004.
  • AHSAA Soccer Championship - May 7th and 8th, 2004 - John Hunt Soccer Complex in Huntsville, AL

The deadline for submitting a player's nomination for the 2004 North South All-Star Soccer Game (Form 38) is March 29th, 2004.

Player Conduct Rule
The penalties for red card violations fall under this rule.
Red Card Violations
(a) Any player who receives a red card will receive a warning or reprimand from the AHSSA.
(b) Any Player who receives a second red card will be ineligible for the next game his/her school plays.
(c) Any player who receives a third red card will be ineligible for the remainder of that season.
Note: A yellow or yellow-red card (also called a soft red card) violation does not apply to the Player Conduct Rule.
