Directions To Huntsville

The directions here are from Soccer Central at the John Hunt Soccer
Complex (off of Airport Road) or from the Huntsville Marriott off Interstate 565 near
the Space & Rocket Center - whichever is more appropriate.

1.
McGucken Park:
- Take 1-565 East to US 231
(Memorial Parkway), go south to Hobbs Road and left (east).
Go approximately 1-1/2 miles to Bailey Cove Road and turn
right (south). Go 2/10 miles and the park is on the right.
The soccer fields are back of baseball fields.
- 2.
Fern Bell Park:
- Take 1-565 East to US 231 (Memorial Parkway), go south
to Drake Ave. and turn left (east). Go to Whitesburg Dr.
and turn right (south). Go one mile and the park is on the
right.
- 3. Rec
Field - Brahan Springs Park:
- Take 1-565 East to US 231
(Memorial Parkway). go south to Drake Avenue and turn right
(west) approximately one mile and turn right at traffic
light into Brahan Springs Park, The field is on the left
across the street from the tennis courts.
Rec Field's current size is 108 x 65 yards.
- 4.
City
North and City South - Brahan Springs Park:
- Take 1-565 East to US 231
(Memorial Parkway), go south to Drake Avenue and turn right
(west) approximately one mile and turn right at traffic
light into Brahan Springs Park. Go to the 4 way stop and
turn left (west). Go approximately 1/2 mile., the field
is on the left across from the Milton Frank Stadium. City
North is closest to the stadium.
City South is 99 x 65 yards.
City North is 90 x 65 yards.

Randolph School:
- Randolph - Drake Field:
Take 1-565 East to US 231 (Memorial Parkway), go south
to Drake Avenue and turn left (east). Go approximately 1
mile to second traffic light (Whitesburg Drive). Continue
straight for approximately 1/2 mile, the school and field
are on the left.
That is the Randolph Drake Field.
Randolph - Garth Field:
To get to Randolph's Garth field take I-565 into Huntsville
and turn right onto Memorial Parkway. Turn left on Drake and
follow it into a residential area. Once you go over the hill,
Randolph School will be on your left. The next big intersection
is Garth Road. Turn right on Garth Road. The field will be
about a mile on the left.

Huntsville High
East and West:
- From the West: Follow Interstate
565 east to the Memorial Parkway exit. Take Memorial Parkway
South. Get off at the Bob Wallace Exit. Stay to the left
on the service road and make a Left at the light onto Bob
Wallace Avenue. Go to the second traffic light the fields
are on the left. Make a left at the light, then a left into
the parking lot.
From the East. Follow Interstate 565 West to the Memorial
Parkway exit. Take Memorial Parkway South. Get off at the
Bob Wallace Exit. Stay to the left on the service road and
make a Left at the light onto Bob Wallace Avenue. Go to
the second traffic light the fields are on the left. Make
a left at the light, then a left into the parking lot.

Kiwanis:
- From I-65
Take I-565 Exit (#340) off of I-65 towards Huntsville. Exit
on to Jordan Lane (Exit # 17A). Take a right on Jordan Lane,
Take a right at the second stop light on to Bob Wallace
Avenue. Turn left at the first drive. There is a sign for
the Botanical Gardens "Mulch Pile". Follow the
drive up and to the left for the field.

Lee High School:
- Take 1-565 East to Oakwood Avenue Exit (#20). When you
exit to the traffic light go straight onto Lee High Drive.
Follow Lee High Dr. past Forrest Circle on your right to
the second Forrest Circle. Turn left into Lee High School
parking lot.
- 9.
Hunt 1, 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10 ("Old Airport & Soccer
Central):
- Take 1-565 East to Us 231
(Memorial Parkway), go south to Airport Road. Turn right
(west). Follow Airport road to second traffic light, turn
right. Once in the parking area, Hunt 1 & 2 are on your
right and Hunt 3 & 4 are on your left. Turn left at
light for 9 & 10. Hunt 3 & 4 are 75 x 120 yards.
Hunt 1 and 2 are set at 120x75. This is based on maximum
dimensions set by the National Federation (high school)
and NCAA. They can be widened to 120x80 if needed.
These are the two fields used for the state championships,
college championships, ODP, and tournament play only.
Note that on some field maps Hunt 3 and 4 are identified
as 4A and 6B. These are the numbers that AYSO uses for the
U10 fields that go across them.
- Hunt 3 is 112 x
71 yards (nearest Airport Road)
Hunt 4 is 101 x 66 yards (near the Jaycee's Building)
Hunt 9 & 10 are smaller fields, occasionally used for
tournament play for younger teams.

Logan Park (Kent Robinson):
- Take 1-565 to US 231 (Memorial
Parkway), go south to Logan Drive. Turn right (west) and go
approximately 0.6 mile. The field is on the right just past
Ensley.
- 11.
Southeast YMCA:
- Take 1-565 to US 231 (Memorial
Parkway), go south to Weatherly Road. Turn left (east) onto
Weatherly Rd. Go approximately one and one half miles Southeast
YMCA is on the right at 1000 Weatherly Road. Turn right
onto Cannstatt Drive and left into the parking lot.

Patton:
- Turn right toward 1-565 (do
not get on 1-565), bear right to Bob Wallace and follow
toward Jordan Lane. Turn right onto Jordan. Jordan Lane
turns into Patton Road. Continue on Patton Road through
GATE 10 at Redstone Arsenal. The field will be on the right
approximately 1 mile past GATE 10.
- 13.
Berrachah:
- Take 1-565 to US 231 (Memorial
Parkway), go north to Sparkman Drive. Turn left (west) onto
Sparkman. Go approximately 1.3 miles and the field is on
the left behind the Navy Reserve Center.
- 14.
Bell Mountain:
- Take 1-565 to US 231 (Memorial
Parkway), go south to Redstone Road. Turn right onto Redstone
Rd.. go approximately. 0.8 mile and turn right. Go approximately
200 yards to the park entrance. The fields on the right
next to Redstone Road.
- 15.
Rugby East and West:
- Turn right toward 1-565 East
(do not get on 1-565) bear right to Bob Wallace and follow
Triana Blvd. Turn right (south) onto Triana Blvd. and go
past the Animal Control Center on the left. Go to Rick cooper
Memorial Park, look for sign on the left which is across
from the Huntsville Solid Waste Energy Facility. Turn left
at the gravel road and follow it to the end. Fields are
on the right.

16. Spragins Hall
Gymnasium at U.A.H - Indoor Soccer
- From Decatur - Take I-565
to Huntsville. Take the Sparkman Drive exit at the Space
and Rocket Center. Turn left on Sparkman Drive. Cross
over I-565 and go about a mile to the intersection of
Bradford Drive (to the left), Holmes Avenue (to the right)
and Sparkman Drive. Turn right on Holmes Avenue. Go about
four blocks and turn left on Benjamin Graves Drive. The
parking lot for Spragins Hall is on the right just past
the outdoor soccer field.
From Soccer Central - Take I-565 East to Jordan Lane.
Turn left (north) onto Jordan Lane. Go about one (1)
mile to Holmes Avenue and turn left (west) onto Holmes
Avenue. Go about a half mile and turn right on Ben Graves
Drive. The parking lot for Spragins Hall is on the right
just past the outdoor soccer field. Spragins Hall is on
your right.
17. Fern Gully Field
Go south on Memorial Parkway to Byrd
Springs Road. Turn left. Go to Whitesburg and turn left. Go to the next
traffic light to Sanders Road turn left and the fields are behind the
Whitesburg swimming pool. Suitable for U9 and U10 teams.
18.
Brahan Springs Football Field
From the west:
From I-65. Take I-565 past the Space and Rocket Center into Huntsville and turn
right (south) on Memorial Drive. Go about one mile and turn right on Drake
Avenue. Take second right. That is First Street. Go to four way stop sign and
turn right. That is Ivy Avenue. The Brahan Springs Football field will one block
away - at the end of the Ivy Avenue. It is in the primary park area east of rec
field and north east of the upper lagoon. This field is normally used for
football but occasionally used for soccer during tournaments.
19. Merrimack Park - Fields #1, 2, 3,
4 & 5
Huntsville's newest soccer park is located on the
old site of the Merrimack Mill. The fields are on the corner of
Triana Boulevard and Linden Avenue (just north of Drake Avenue) and are
within walking distance of City North and City South
fields.
Take 1-565 East to US 231 (Memorial Parkway), go south to
Drake Avenue and turn right (west). Go about a mile and turn right on Triana
Boulevard. The fields will be a block or two on your right. FOSNA,
NASL and
RCIT have all
contributed to the development of the new complex.

At this time (2002) there are five fields completed.
Merrimack 1 is 103 x 77 yards (west)
Merrimack 2 is 114 x 78 yards (east)
Merrimack 3 is 100 x 70 yards
Merrimack 5 is 110 x 67 yards
Merrimack 4 is currently lined and goaled for U10 play,
but can be converted to a 110x70 field with 8x24 goals if
needed.

East on I-565
At exit 20, turn RIGHT onto Ramp 0.3 mi
Turn RIGHT (East) onto Oakwood Ave NE 0.8

then immediately turn RIGHT (East) onto

21. Northern/Stoner
Park:
East 565 to Rideout Road / Research Park Blvd
Exit
Take Plummer Exit/ turn Right.
Plummer Rd. will turn into Mastin Lake once
it crosses Jordan Lane. Stay on Mastin Lake
(aprox. 5 to 6 miles )
Take a left on Bragg St.
Street dead ends at Northern/Stoner Park. Soccer
field is at the east end of the park.
