Minnesota United FC announced two preseason trips before the start of the 2014 NASL Spring Season. The first trip takes the team to the west coast to face the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer and the second brings the club to England for a three-match tour highlighted by a March 17th game against Derby County FC.
While the club's roster is still taking shape, United supporters will surely be eager to get their first look at how the 2014 team gels together on this critical preseason tour.
"I think this is an outstanding preseason to prepare the club for the 2014 campaign," said United head coach Manny Lagos. "I think we have put together two trips that will be both challenging and get us up to speed to start the season."
The first preseason matchup takes the club to Los Angeles, California from February 23rd - March 2nd to face the L.A. Galaxy. United will have two matches scheduled during the trip against the Galaxy. Final details are still being determined.
Once the club returns from the sun-soaked west coast, it then travels across the Atlantic Ocean on an English tour from March 8th - 18th where it will face three English clubs. The overseas tour will feature three very distinct opponents culminating in a matchup on March 17th against Derby County FC of the Football League Championship Division.
"I think it's incredibly exciting for the club to take its brand overseas," added Lagos. "We are looking forward to playing against top talent. Our goal is to become a great club and part of that is going outside of the United States. I think this is going to be a great opportunity for the guys to really gel on and off the field and become a team."
