Host FC Edmonton earned its first victory of the NASL Fall Season after defeating the league-leaders San Antonio Scorpions, 3-1, at Clarke Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Eddies got on the board in the ninth minute with their first tally of the season when Jamaican midfielder Horace James scored off an assist from his countrymen Lance Laing for a 1-0 lead. The goal was also the first given up by Scorpions in the last 312 minutes.
San Antonio tied the match in the 23rd minute with a penalty kick goal by French forward Eric Hassli.
In the second half, English forward Tomi Ameobi gave Edmonton the lead in the 69th minute off another assists from the Jamaican defender Laing.
Northern Ireland native striker Daryl Fordyce added his sixth goal of the year with 11 minutes remaining off a pass from midfielder Milton Blanco for the 3-1 final.
The victory ended the Eddies' three-game winless streak, while the Scorpions lose for the first time this year on the road and had their nine-game overall unbeaten run come to an end.
