Fury FC Sign Quebec Native Philippe Davies

Ottawa Fury FC today named Philippe Davies as the club's eighth Canadian signing, pending international transfer. Davies, who developed with the Vancouver Whitecaps from 2008-2011, joins Fury FC after two seasons with USL PRO side Richmond Kickers. The club's newest midfielder has already represented Canada at U17, U20, U23 and was capped by the full Men's National team last January.

"I'm delighted to join Ottawa Fury FC and work with an organization that I continuously hear good things about," said Davies. "When the chance came to return and play in Canada came I didn't hesitate. I can't wait to meet the fans and start a successful inaugural season for Fury FC."

Davies, 23, is a 6'0 midfielder that joined the Whitecaps Residency Program in the fall of 2007. He represented the Whitecaps at the PDL, USL and NASL levels and was part of their journey to the MLS becoming the club's first-ever MLS homegrown player. While with the Whitecaps, Davies featured in a friendly against English Premier League powerhouse Manchester City in the Herbalife World Football Challenge.

"We knew of Philippe Davies from his time with the Vancouver Whitecaps and he did incredibly well in his last NASL season," said Fury FC Head Coach Marc Dos Santos. "We believe the Ottawa Fury FC environment will be the right fit for a player that has represented Canada at every level."

Born in Longueuil, Quebec, Davies spent a majority of his youth development with FC Select South Shore during which time he began his involvement with the Canadian National Team program - first at age 14 under the tutelage of Stephan Hart. He spent 2006 with French Ligue 2 club Dijon with their U16 and Reserve side before returning to FC Select South Shore. Davies would go on to represent at the 2007 CONCACAF U17 World Cup Qualifiers, the 2009 CONCACAF U20 Championship and the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie. He would play alongside teammates Carl Haworth and Drew Beckie in the 2012 Men's Olympic (U23) qualifiers and earned his first international cap with Canada last January in a friendly against Denmark.

With training camp opening Monday morning at the Complexe Branchaud-Brière in Gatineau, the updated Fury FC roster is as follows:
