Scorpions Welcome Strikers In NASL’s Game Of The Week This Saturday On ESPN3

After picking up another critical road victory to open the 2014 North American Soccer League (NASL) Fall Season last week, San Antonio Scorpions return home to welcome Fort Lauderdale Strikers at Toyota Field to highlight’s the NASL ‘Game of the Week’ live on ESPN3 on Saturday, July 19, at 8:45 pm ET.   

ESPN's live, multi-screen sports network is accessible online at, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. 

Soccer fans around the world will also be able to ‘Watch Every Match Live’ throughout the 2014 NASL Fall Season including Week 2 venues in Atlanta, Indy, Minnesota, Ottawa and San Antonio at   Fans can purchase the full Fall Season or Monthly Subscriptions of now.

This Saturday’s San Antonio-Fort Lauderdale encounter, which will also be seen on and locally on MeTV KSAT 12.2, is a rematch from last Spring Season finale, which both sides battled to a 2-2 draw.

Despite trailing the head-to-head series vs. the Scorpions, the Strikers are unbeaten in their last three meetings against Texas club.  San Antonio, who’s also a perfect 5-0-0 on the road in NASL matches in 2014, is coming off a 3-1 victory over the host New York Cosmos, while Fort Lauderdale was beaten 3-0 by the Spring Champion Minnesota United FC. 

NASL Fall Week 2 encounters commence with Thursday Night Fútbol (July 17) when Minnesota United anticipates to fight for its unbeaten streak – currently at five games – as it takes on visiting Carolina RailHawks at NSC Stadium at 7 pm CT (8 pm ET).   The match will be shown live on and locally on KSTC-45 TV on taped delay – Saturday, July 19 at 8 pm ET.

The RailHawks hold a slight lead in the head-to-head series and are the last team to have beaten United at NSC Stadium.  This past Spring, the last time both clubs met, the encounter ending in a scoreless draw.

Fall Week 2 action continues on Saturday, July 19 with two sides searching for their first victories of the campaign when Atlanta Silverbacks host FC Edmonton at Silverbacks Park at 7:30 pm ET on

The Eddies lead the head-to-head series against the Silverbacks, however they are winless against Atlanta in the last four encounters.  The last time both squads met was this past Spring at Edmonton’s Clarke Stadium with visiting Silverbacks posted a 2-1 victory.

Closing out Saturday’s encounters, Indy Eleven are searching for their first NASL home victory when the Tampa Bay Rowdies visit IUPUI's Michael A. Carroll Stadium at 7:30 pm ET.  The match will be on and locally on MyINDY TV-23.

This is the second consecutive meeting between the two sides at Michael A. Carroll Stadium, with the last encounter ending in a 1-1 draw in front of sold out crowd of 10,412.

The 2014 Fall Season Week 2 concludes on Sunday, July 20, when New York Cosmos travel to the Canadian provinces of Ontario for the first time in three decades and take on Ottawa Fury FC at their brand new stadium TD Place at 3 pm ET.  The encounter will be on and in Canada via Rogers TV and TSN 1200 Radio.

This is the second-ever meeting between the two clubs with the Cosmos having won 1-0, at home in the Spring Season Finale.
