NASL's FC Edmonton is set for one of the club’s most anticipated preseason matches against University of British Columbia’s Thunderbirds on Saturday, March 29 at Thunderbird Stadium for a 11:30 a.m. PT kick off.
“We’re looking for another tough preseason game against UBC,” said FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller. “We had a tough game against them last year and once again they are National Champions at the CIS level. They have some of the best university players in Canada, a lot of former Whitecap Residency and National program players. It will be our toughest test to date.”
Miller and the rest of the Eddies technical staff will be using this match as preparation for FC Edmonton’s first North American Soccer League’s (NASL) match on April 12 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
“We’re very grateful to Mike Mosher and the UBC Thunderbirds,” said Miller about the next opponents. “Mike has done a great job at UBC and we’re looking forward to the game.”
FC Edmonton is looking to maintain a promising preseason record. In the club’s previous three matches against Trinity Western, Simon Fraser University and Abbotsford Selects, they have managed to score a combined 10 goals while conceding just one.
The Eddies will play their final preseason game on Tuesday, April 1 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Thunderbird Stadium in a 2:30 p.m. kick off. This will be the final preseason match before FC Edmonton head off to St Petersburg, Florida to take on the Rowdies in the 2014 NASL season opener.
