Rhinos Begin Road Trip in Florida vs Rowdies
Most Read Articles
The Rhinos are coming off a loss to the RailHawks last Saturday night where, although the team played well on a whole, thugh offense looked largely uninspired. The Rhinos who were previously undefeated in eight regular season matches, do not want to begin a losing streak . Rochester, though is currently in an offensive slump, having failed to score in the last 275 minutes of play, The Rhinos last goal came in the 85th minute against Montreal Impact on July 3rd. Goalkeeper Neal Kitson will look for the start again tonight over Scott Vallow after looking impressive in his last four matches, allowing only two goals. FC Tampa Bay Rowdies are winless in their last seven league matches, having taken only two points from a possible twenty one. The Rowdies have also made a trade that they hope will bring a turnaround to their fortunes- adding Jonny Steele. The Northern Ireland midfielder has been acquired through a trade with the Vancouver Whitecaps and was named the USL-1 Most Valuable Player for the 2008 season. It is likely that Steele will feature in some capacity tonight. Midfielder Jeremy Christie is still nursing both a groin injury and a concussion suffered earlier this month and will likely start the match on the bench. Christie has played only once since returning from World Cup duty in South Africa. The Rhinos currently sit eight points back of Austinand hold third place overall USSF D-2 standings. Tampa Bay currently occupies the eight and final playoff position. Tamp Bay are currently second bottom in the USL conference but a win against Rochester tonight with a large enough margin and a Portland Timbers loss can see the Rowdies leapfrog them in both tables. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET at George Steinbrenner field in Tampa, FL. The match can be streamed live on both fctampaBay.com and rhinossoccer.tv as well as SportsRadio 950 ESPN and 1010 CBS Radio. --
