Carolina RailHawks announced on Saturday the signing of Dzenan Catic on loan from Philadelphia Union as RailHawks goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre remains on loan with the Union.
“We are thrilled to have Dzenan join the team. He is an ambitious player, who wants to grow his game,” RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke said. “Dzenan will bring a lot of versatility to the team.”
Catic was born in Bosnia & Herzegovina and started his playing career with the youth team of German side FC Kaiserslautern. After spending a year with the club, he moved to the United States and played soccer for Davenport University at the NCAA Division 2 level. Catic joined USL PDL club Michigan Bucks while at Davenport University and scored 16 goals in 14 appearances during their 2014 season. Catic was selected by MLS’s Philadelphia Union as the 31st overall pick of the 2015 Superdraft and was later loaned out to Harrisburg City Islanders.
He now joins the RailHawks and will provide coach Clarke with some more attacking options up front.
