CAREER

2017: Signed with Armada FC (2/20) ... Tallied an assist versus the Cosmos on Banks' goal in the 67th minute (4/22)... Collected an assit on Gebhard's goal in the 79th minute against FC Edmonton (7/1)...

The Jacksonville Armada FC announced the signing of Kalen Ryden on Jan. 20, 2017. The center back comes to Jacksonville from the USL side Oklahoma City Energy FC where he played 26 games and 1,893 minutes with the Energy in 2016.

Ryden joined the Energy in August 2015 as the team played out the rest of the season and qualified for the USL Playoffs. Ryden appeared as a sub in overtime and netted a penalty kick during the shootout victory against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

Ryden’s professional career began in the Premier Development League when he played for Des Moines Menace, Midland/Odessa Sockers and Austin Aztex.

In 2015, Ryan participated in the MLS SuperDraft and was selected in the fourth round by the Columbus Crew SC. The defender was loaned out to the USL team Austin Aztex FC where he scored his first professional goal and earned an honorable mention in the USL Team of the Week. Energy FC signed the rookie later in 2015 when he was let go by the Crew SC.

COLLEGE

Ryden’s college career began at Oral Roberts University in 2009 where he was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer team. He totaled three goals and two assists in 35 appearances overall.

The defender then transferred to Midwestern State University and served a redshirt season in 2012. He went on to tally one goal and two assists in his 28 appearances and earned NSCAA All-South Central Region First Team honors.
