RULES DETERMINING CHAMPIONS, FINALISTS,
DIVISION WINNERS and WILD CARD TEAMS:
A. Each team will be awarded points as follows:
6 points for a win
3 points for a tie
0 points for a loss
1 point for a shut out
1 point per goal, up to a maximum of 3
B. These are round robin games so total
points determine the champions and finalists in all but the U9 Girls
division. In the U9 Girls division the teams will play each other.
After each team has played the other two their total points will determine
the two teams to play in the championship game.
C. In the event of a tie within a division, the following criteria
will be used to determine the winner:
1. Head-to-head competition (In the event of a tie between more than 2
teams, this criterion will not be considered).
2. Most wins.
3. Greater goal difference, with a maximum of +3 and a minimum of –3 for
any one game.
4. Least number of goals allowed.
5. FIFA Kicks From The Mark (penalty kicks) thirty minutes prior to the scheduled playoff round
games.
D. In the event of a tie among 3 or more teams, the elimination procedure
begins with C-2 noted above. If 2 teams remain, the tie will be broken by
repeating the above elimination procedures beginning with Step C -1 above.
E. In the event that a wild card team must be selected for the playoff
rounds, the above procedure will be used across the entire division.
F. The Tournament Committee, acting within the parameters of these rules,
will determine the teams to advance into the final round. In the
event of a tie in a round robin bracket the champions and finalists will
be determined by the same criteria listed above (C1 - C5).
GUEST PLAYERS:
The NASL Board has decided that (for 2003 only) each team will be allowed
to use a maximum of three guest players in the End of Season Tournament as
long as the total number of players on the team roster (including the
guest players) does not exceed 14 (fourteen) players. Guest players
must be registered AYSA members with a current, valid player card. Please
fill out and use
Guest Player Form 2003. The form must be filled out
and signed by the club registrar and also signed by Belton MacCary.
Contact Belton at 880-6418 to arrange to get Belton's signature. You must
have a copy of that signed form with your player cards and regular team
roster available for the referees at each game.
REPORTING SCORES:
The winning coach of each game
must contact Belton MacCary within one hour after the game ends to report
the score. Please ask the center referee for his confirmed score
before calling in to Belton. Call her at 880-6418 or 694-6419.
PLAYOFF ROUNDS
A. Most of the brackets in 2003 tournament are "Round Robin" so there are
no playoff or championship games (except U9 Girls). But in the cases where the
brackets are not round robin type, winners of each group advance into the playoff rounds.
B. GOLDEN GOAL OVERTIME will be played in case of a draw at the end of
regulation time in the finals and semi-finals. The winner will be
determined as follows:
C. All overtime periods will be sudden death (i.e. the first team to score
a goal wins). The duration of overtime will be - One 10 minute overtime
period with the teams exchanging ends after 5 minutes and a 2-minute
interval, unless a goal is scored sooner. If no goals are scored during
overtime play, FIFA penalty kicks will be taken to determine the winner.
FAILURE TO SHOW AND FORFEITS
A. A team will be allowed a 10-minute grace period after the scheduled
kick-off time before the match is awarded to their opponent. A minimum of
8 players constitutes a team and if 8 players are present, the game will
not be delayed.
B. In no case will a team, which forfeits a game, be declared a division
winner or wild card team. If an apparent division winner forfeits a game,
the division team with the next best record will be named the division
winner.
C. If a team is the cause for termination of a game, that team will be
considered to have forfeited that game.
D. A forfeit in the preliminary rounds will be awarded as 10 points for
the win to the opposing team and any other team that the
forfeiting team has played.
E. Forfeits of games in the playoff rounds will be recorded as 1-0 games.
GAME LENGTHS:
A. Game lengths for U9 and U10
will be the same as during the regular season with a minimum of five
minute half times.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
The tournament Committee has the express right to cancel, shorten or move
any match it deems necessary due to inclement weather. Furthermore, the
tournament committee has the right to cancel any match that has no bearing
on the scoring and progression of tournament play. This is a rain or shine
tournament, however and every effort will be made to ensure all games are
played.
