The San Francisco Deltas have added to their Canadian national team contingent with the addition of Maxim Tissot, the organization announced Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, per club policy.

Tissot, who is currently part of the Canadian senior-team pool, and has made 12 previous appearances, can slot in on the left side at the back or on the wing. He comes to San Francisco from MLS side D.C. United.

"Maxim is a player that will bring us another option on the left side," Deltas coach Marc Dos Santos said. "Max has a lot of qualities and a great left foot. He will be another great addition to help us reach our goals.”

The Deltas now have five players with senior national-team experience in the squad including four Canadians (Nana Attakora, Kyle Bekker, Karl Ouimette, Tissot) and Steward Ceus (Haiti).

Tissot signed with D.C. United in the preseason following a successful trial, appearing once in a 2-2 road draw against the New England Revolution on April 22. He started four matches on loan with the Richmond Kickers of the USL this season as well. On Monday, he and D.C. United mutually agreed to part ways.

A two-time Canadian Championship winner, Tissot joined United after 44 appearances with the Montreal Impact from 2013-16. He was named the Canadian Soccer League Defender of the Year in 2012 while with the Montreal Impact Academy.

He joined Ottawa Fury midway through the 2016 NASL season, where he appeared in 19 contests.

“I’m extremely happy to join the Deltas," Tissot said. "I can’t wait to get things started and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead. After speaking with Marc [Dos Santos] and some players that I’ve played with before, I know that I’m joining an ambitious club.”
