The New York Cosmos and San Francisco Deltas seemed headed to a draw, but a moment of magic tipped the scale in the favor of the visitors at Kezar Stadium. Making his first appearance and start for the Cosmos, veteran midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma received the ball on the left flank from Javi Márquez and then did the rest. With goalkeeper Romuald Peiser off his line, Ledesma lifted the ball with precision over the shot-stopper with his shot from the top of the box. The ball kissed off the post and into the back of the net for the decisive play as the Deltas lost their first match in league play.
The goal also earned NASL Play of the Week honors and can be seen above.
