In Indianapolis for another day, it was back to the Grand Park Sports Complex where Indy Eleven took on Swope Park Rangers in a preseason friendly.

Striking Early

Eamon Zayed, who scored 15 goals in his first NASL season with the club, opened the scoring against Swope Park with an opportunistic goal. The forward was played into space and then coolly slotted home to give the Boys in Blue the lead. The game eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.

Fitting In Well

During the opening half of the preseason friendly, recent signing Ben Speas had a noticeable impact. He was a threat down the left flank when the ball was at his feet, showcasing his ability to get around defenders on more than one occasion. Also on the left side was Nemanja Vukovic, who was noted for his offensive impact from the full back position last season. That pair’s relationship as the season rolls on will certainly be one to keep an eye out for.

Talking To The Captain

While not able to join his teammate on the field just yet with his rehab recently started after hernia surgery, Colin Falvey joined the NASL digital team for a chat. He talked about the games he’s most looking forward to as well as his leadership style when wearing the captain’s armband. Remember Falvey’s grit in The Championship Semifinal after suffering a cut to his head?

The experienced center back, on the mend, was certainly upbeat about the side’s upcoming campaign and what the club can accomplish in 2017.
